Fun times @ School!

We had such a fun day with Danika, Gigi and Sarah! We did watercolors, had puppet shows, played with babies and the barbie dolls! What a darling group of girls I had today! They all played so well together and we all had a lot of fun dancing to "freeze dance," singing the "wheels on the bus," and catching our teddy bears to the "teddy bear playground!!" I got to know a lot about what they each already know, and more exciting for me...what I get to teach them! It's gonna be a fun year!

Building a Preschool

My mom & I are exhausted! We've been working for a week straight! The Preschool is coming along great & is looking darling! Today we've been focusing on advertising...finding the kiddo's that will be the heart of the school.

CURRICULUM

I like to focus on having lots of fun while we’re learning. It’s especially important to me that they love coming to school each day and are not burned out by the time they hit kindergarten!

I enroll kids that are 3 to 5 years old, and teach them generally together. The younger kids watch and learn from the older ones. They show us that they are really capable of more than we think!! It is also neat to see how the older kids rise to the occasion as big helpers to the little ones! As a class, they blend well and enjoy the diversity.

We will learn all letters of the alphabet and beginning sounds with phonics, blending and reading readiness. The children also learn their shapes, colors, opposites, beginning math operations and basic spanish vocabulary. We work on developing both gross and fine motor skills with a variety of activities.

Through break-out learning centers I can spend one-on-one time with everyone. This is where I will really explore their strengths and weaknesses and help each child feel positive and confident about their individual learning experience.

DISCIPLINE STYLE

I always use positive reinforcements, praise and incentives for good behavior. My goal is to help them integrate into social situations, learn how to follow instructions and take direction. They will have fun will learning how to get along with children their age and navigation in their new world of socialization.

If negative behavior is repeated and disrupting the rest of the class, I may need to resort to an occasional time out. I will let parents know of any concerns we're having if it becomes a problem.

POTTY TRAINING

Being potty trained and ready for school is important but is also something that I am happy to follow up with during the day. I’ve found that when they are in a school setting with older kids it really helps them understand and want to use the big boy or big girl potty too!
At this age, it’s perfectly normal to have accidents and pull-ups are always welcome at school! If they are close to being fully potty trained, but need a little push, just talk with me and we’ll work through it together!
